Question about the task

Task No. 6 about integer type conversions

double d = (short)2.50256e2d ☆ what does charcter 'e' and 'd' refers? and why the resultant value of d is "250.0" and not "2.0" because as per my knowledge for now...(short) ignores everything after decimal point. -it's really getting so confusing now. 🥵😓

'e' in the middle of a decimal number is "10 to the power of #", and shifts the decimal point by the number following the 'e'. So:

// this would output 250.256 (moves decimal 2 spaces to right)
System.out.println(2.50256e2);

// this would output 2502.56 (moves 3 spaces)
System.out.println(2.50256e3);

//25025.6 (moves 4 spaces)
System.out.println(2.50256e4);

//0.0250256 (moves 2 spaces to left)
System.out.println(2.50256e-2);

//0.00250256 (moves 3 spaces)
System.out.println(2.50256e-3);

etc. It is easy to understand when shown. 'd' at the end of a number marks it as a decimal number. So:

// this output 250
System.out.println(250);

// this outputs 250.0
System.out.println(250d);
