Implement the getFeetFromInches(int inches) method. The method takes the number of inches. Your task is to make the method return the number of full feet represented by the variable inches. (1 feet = 12 in).

Consider this example:
The getFeetFromInches method is called with the argument 243.

Example output:
20

Requirements:

The getFeetFromInches(int) method must be public and static.
The getFeetFromInches method must return an int.
The getFeetFromInches method should not display anything.
The getFeetFromInches method must correctly return the number of full feet represented by the variable inches.

all you need to do is divide the given inches(28) with the 1 feet which is 12 inches. int ff = inches / 12; return ff; you don't have to do all the things you have done. Hope this helps :)

i dont know why everyone in the help pages writes alots of codes wit parseInt etc. we have not learned them. for this example the only code i wrote was this and it works; int feet = inches/12; return feet;

If 1 feet = 12 inches, then to get feet from inches you need to take 1 feet out of every 12 inches. This means if we divide inches by 12 then we're left with the number of feet. Tip: try to keep things as simple as possible because sometimes adding unnecessary implementations can violate some task conditions. In this task you need to only implement the getFeetFromInches method. I recommend you reset the task and do only as you were asked, it's a good practice here and sometimes you'll see why as you get experience here at CodeGym. It's easy to complicate things but hard to simplify
