What am i missing?

CrUD: Create, Update, Delete.

The program runs with one of the following sets of arguments:
-c name sex bd -u id name sex bd -d id -i id

Argument values:
name (String)
sex ("m" or "f")
bd (birth date in the following format: "04 15 1990")
-c (adds a person with the specified arguments to the end of allPeople; displays the id on the screen)
-u (updates the data of the person with the specified id)
-d (performs the logical deletion of the person with the specified id; replaces all of its data with null)
-i (displays information about the person with the specified id: name sex (m/f) bd (format Apr 15 1990))

The id corresponds to the index in the list.
All the people should be stored in allPeople.
Use Locale.ENGLISH as the second argument for SimpleDateFormat.

Example arguments:
-c Washington m "04 15 1990"

Example output for the -i argument:
Washington m Apr 15 1990

Requirements:

The Solution class must contain a public static List<Person> field called allPeople.
The Solution class must have a static block where two people are added to the allPeople list.
When you start the program with the -c argument, the program should add the person with the specified arguments to the end of the allPeople list and display the id (index).
When you run the program with the -u argument, the program must update the data of the person with the specified id in the allPeople list.
When you run the program with the -d argument, the program must perform the logical deletion the person with the specified id in the allPeople list.
When you run the program with the -i argument, the program should display the data about the person with the specified id in accordance with the format given in the task.

Get rid of line 58 and format the Person.getBirthDate() on line 59. Line 59 in your code is throwing an error because the pattern you are using is "MMM dd yyyy" but you are trying to parse to date by passing in a string that matches pattern "MM dd yyyy" (which is created on line 58) to then format a date. There is no problem when passing a Date object into the format method though and it will take the date and format it according to the pattern.

You mean like this: SimpleDateFormat sdf2 = new SimpleDateFormat("MM dd yyyy", Locale.ENGLISH); String date_sdf2Format = sdf2.format(displayedPerson.getBirthDate()); It runs but still is not verifying the last condition...

your format should not change. It should be "MMM dd yyyy", not MM, but otherwise yes.

Thanks, you pointed the right direction. It passed not with MMMM but with MMM! Don´t know why... But is resolved.

The example output the have in the conditions: "Apr 15 1990" The format for that is MMM. You can find more on google about using SimpleDateFormat, i like this link as it has some good examples: http://tutorials.jenkov.com/java-internationalization/simpledateformat.html

You are learning something new and will make "easy" errors, we all do. Trust me, I have made some really simple errors that took me 15 times failing the verification before I found out that I had used less than instead of the less than or equal. There is a joke that in computer programming there are 3 common errors: 1) using the wrong variable (such as AllPeople instead of allPeople) and 2) off by one errors.

May i ask you for some advice in sorting bytes? do you have study material? I am hanging there and dont know where to turn...
