My first two conditions are not verifying Can someone please explain

Read the first requirement carefully. It says initialize "existing" strings field of Solution class. Why are you creating a new ArrayList inside main method. Just initialize the already present private static List<String> strings in solution class and not inside main method.

Yes, inside Solution class - before starting of main method and not inside main method.

public class Solution{ private static LIst<String> strings = new ArrayList<String>(); That's all you have to do. "strings<String> = new ArrayList();" this is incorrect syntax.

List in an interface so there is small difference ... we can use that type for ArrayList and LinkedList and vectors as well ... !! you can do like this on line 14 it is stated that private static List<String> strings; you can intialize it like this strings = new ArrayList<String> (); in main method

Aways Remeber that ArrayList is container it keeps same type of objects .... here strings is a Object which is type String...!!
