what cause error during dealloaction

In the Cat class constructor, i.e. public Cat(), increment the cat counter (the Cat class's static variable catCount) by 1. Decrement it by 1 in the finalize method.

Requirements:

Add a constructor without parameters to the Cat class, i.e. public Cat().
The constructor must increment the value of the variable catCount by 1.
Add the finalize method to the Cat class.
The finalize method should not return anything (the return type is void).
The finalize method should reduce the variable catCount by 1.

in the finalize method, remove the system.out.println. the program wants a "decrease by 1" so Cat.catCount--

At the line 14 you have to replace the line by " Cat.catCount --; "

When I tried this thinking do this myself without seeing this message it didn't work as Cat was deleted so...

Read the requirements very carefully please. Last requirement says you have to decrement the catCount in finalize method by 1. Also, in line 14, why using println ? Its not stated anywhere in the question that you have to print something.
