whats wrong here..Its sating unreported exception.I am already keeping that part in try block

Write a program that will read numbers from the keyboard.
The code for reading numbers from the keyboard must be in the readData method.
Wrap the code inside readData in a try-catch block.
If the user enters text instead of a number, then the method should catch an exception and then display all previously entered numbers.
Display each number on a new line in the same order it was entered.

The program must read data from the keyboard.
Don't change the main method.
The main method should not throw exceptions.
The readData method must contain a try-catch block.

Its still not right. You haven't properly analyzed what each line of your code is doing. 1.

al.add((Integer.parseInt(br.readLine())));

This line takes input and add to arraylist. But this is executing only once. You should make it read again and again until and exception is thrown. 2. When Integer.parseInt is not able to convert a string to an integer, it throws ParseException and not numberFormatException. You must catch ParseException and IOException. Or you can simply use Exception to catch all the exceptions. ParseException is for Integer.parseInt and IOException for taking input through bufferedReader. 3. Why are you printing stacktrace ? No need of it. 4. readData() throws Exception isn't required when you are catching exceptions in function itself. And I have a request, when you reply to someone in comments, reply by click on "reply" option below the person's comment so that he/she gets a notification and can get back to you. Don't make a new comment in reply to someone, they don't get a notification.

try-catch block is working as expected. Only problem is that you don't have any loop to read numbers from keyboard. Question says to read numbers from keyboard and throw an exception when string is entered instead of number. Your program only reads one number and stops.
