Explain the 4th task please..

1. Read 10 words from the keyboard and add them to a list of strings.
2. Determine whether the list is ordered by increasing string length.
3. If it is not, then display the index of the first element that violates this order.

Requirements:

Declare a string list variable and immediately initialize it.
Read 10 lines from the keyboard and add them to the list.
If the list is ordered by increasing string length, then you don't need to display anything.
If the list is not ordered by increasing string length, then display the index of the first element that violates this order.

Make it simple. 1. You don't need - count, inc, num, c variables. 2. Loop should be < (list.size() - 1) 3. Inside the loop - 1 condition is enough. 4. You would need to compare list.get(i).length() with list.get(i+1).length 5. If so. Print and Break.

What word/index breaks the order in this list? ("Longer", "the", "Longest") What index would the above code output? Tips: (num.length() > inc.length() &&num != inc) num != inc is not needed. The double AND symbol that precedes this means that this boolean check will not be reached unless the first boolean check, lenth1 > length2, is true. If the length of word 1 is greater than the length of word 2, I will guarantee they will never be the same word. line 21, line 24, line 32, and line 34 you have extra code that is never used. I would recommend removing these lines. for (int i = 0; i < list.size(); i++) { if (i == 9) this can just be written as this: for (int i = 0; i < list.size()-1; i++) {

In the above words: "Longer", "the", "Longest" The one that breaks the chain is the second word, "the", at index 1. Your code would output 0. Your code does successfully determine when a word is not correct in the chain of words, the problem is that it is outputting the incorrect index.

(incase you want only the first String that breaks the rule, add return to the last line of the code (after sout(i+1)), whats wrong now?
