Don't make the math too hard. Other formulas won't work either, like ((10/100 * i) + i . Although the answer is correct, CodeGym won't accept it. Make the formula look like this: double addTenPercent = i * 1.10; Then use the return function on the new variable. You will be able to continue after you change this. Good luck!

I am not getting it. On what basis this (1.10 ) has been calculated ? Thank You

If you add 10% to a number, you can just multiply by 1 (itself) and 0.1. There are several ways to get to the result, but CodeGym in this exercise wants to see you use this method, otherwise you won't get all the points. ((10/100)*i)+i is for example the same thing, but not the correct answer for THIS exercise. Since it's a double you use an extra 0 at the end. Good luck!

10/100 results 0. (integer types). 10/100.0 or 10.0/100 results 0.1. (double type). And use variable i, as raj said.

in line 12 when you call addTenPercent(2000) it always return 10% of 9 ; correct your code by this

(10/100.0)*i;
addTenPercent = increase_Prcnt+i;
