I'm a bit confused why asking for the number 1st in the place of name gives the proper output. In my mind, it would read " 8 will take over the world in Kevin years. Mwa ha ha. Id appreciate anyones opinion on this.

It doesn't matter in which order you read values from keyboard, for example you can read some value first, save it in some variable, and then print it very last.
But! The condition says: Enter the number and name from the keyboard
And then: The order in which the data is input matters a lot.
So, think about it. 0

When you make a "scanner" you should only make it once! when you make it it does not call nor start itself, the "typing input box" would appear when you use something like NAME.nextInt() that is the place which call the scanner and makes you type text into a box.
