Line 25 should be outside the loop, right now it's printing the average every time you enter a number You should stop the loop as soon as "-1" is entered and it should not be part of the average; you don't need the boolean to do this, something on the line of:

while(true){
inputValue=Integer.parseInt(reader.readLine());
if(inputValue == -1)
break;
//otherwise add value to average

You're method of calculating the mean is not correct. You should declare two ints (let's say "sum" and "count") sum should be increased by the value of the number read from the keyboard and count should be incremented by 1 every time a number is read (as long as it's not -1). Then just divide sum by count to find the mean
