I get it, CodeGym is the best site to learn Java programming, but it's because they keep us hungry and motivated to learn more, especially in the beginning of a new level.
But why there ain't no motivation here?
Since some of the commentators seem to miss the motivational intros, I'd like to provide an older - yet not outdated - article you might hopefully enjoy as much as I did:
Teach yourself programming in ten years by Peter Norvig. It's quite short, too :)
Apart from disagreeing with CodeGym concerning the time spans, the spirit of the article is very similar: Have fun, practice as much as you can, and always remember:
"kukaan ei ole seppä syntyessään"
"Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen"
"C'est en forgeant qu'on devient forgeron"
"Nie święci garnki lepią"
"Al doende leert men"
"Perfeksie val nie uit die hemel uit nie"
(Or some kind of mixture between "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "Practice makes perfect")
