• Cyber attacks increased 50% year over year. A fresh survey by Check Point is on the Web. The highlights indicate that in Q4 of 2021 there was an all-time peak in weekly cyber-attacks per organization. The most attacked sector is Education.

• Open source developer corrupts widely-used libraries, affecting tons of projects. A developer purposefully corrupted open-source libraries on GitHub, which thousands of users depend on.

• 4 million outdated Log4j downloads were served from Apache Maven Central despite the risk. Seems like not all developers have heard about a serious security hole in December 2021.

• GitHub to block hundreds of Widevine forks. They were used to outfox the copy protection measures of sites, including giants like Amazon, Netflix, and Disney+.

• More than two-thirds of malware downloads in 2021 were traced to cloud apps. Top credential attacks source countries in 2021 are the United States, China, and Vietnam.
