I cant get it to print the array :(

1. In the Cat class, add the public static ArrayList<Cat> variable cats.
2. Each time a new cat (new Cat object) is created, add it to the variable cats. Create 10 Cat objects.
3. The printCats method should display all cats on the screen. You need to use the variable cats.

Requirements:

Add the public static ArrayList<Cat> variable cats to the Cat class.
The variable cats must be initialized.
The main method should create 10 Cat objects (use the Cat() constructor).
The main method must add all the created cats to the variable cats.
The printCats method should display all the cat objects in the variable cats. Each on a new line.

The code is printing the Array just fine. The problem is that it is printing the array incorrectly. I have highlighted the pertinent part of the directions here: "The printCats method should display all the cat objects in the variable cats. Each on a new line."

Hi, Have a look at if the below helps. cats variable is a reference to the whole array stored in memory, so currently your printing the hexcode of the address location in memory. What you need to do is use a loop in printCat() method, like the one on line 19, on each iteration of the loop you want to get the cat from the array and then print it. You can do using the .get Method. example Cat TheCat = cats.get(i) System.out.println(TheCat)
