After I run my code is not showing anything on the screen. I add catCount++ inside addNewCat method.

Are there System.out.println() statements that would output what you expect?
Is there code in main() that uses the code you wrote?
When you ask a question you need to attach code otherwise we can only guess what the issue may be.
