Not sure why this is failing

This is from almost a year ago so it has probably been answered, but there are 2 reasons why this code is failing the test. The first is that it outputs 2 as the first number (you start with 1, and then you add 1 to it in the very first output, so you're off by one from the very beginning). To fix this, you would simply start with 0 for your sum when you initialize it. The second issue is that you aren't adding the new number to the previous sum in each line, you are adding every number just to the original value of 1, so your output looks like this: 2 3 4 5 6 When it should look like: 1 3 6 10 15 You need to change the value of sum with each new number, not just call up the original value. You probably want to add a line between each print line that says something like

sum = sum + 2;

Then just print sum instead of trying to do the math in the output line. Or you can do all the math in the output line and do away with the sum variable all together, but I would do one or the other (do the math using the sum variable and then just output sum, or get rid of the sum variable and do all the math in each output line).

Look at the example output. You are not getting this exact output. You should either use 5 variables (each bigger than the previous) OR just write 5 println's saying 1, 1+2, 1+2+3, etc. Good luck!

re-read the conditions. It should output like the example: 1, 3, 6 .... the above code outputs like this: 1, 2, 3.....
