In 2011 Mark Andreessen, a Silicon Valley legend and co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, wrote the article “Why software is eating the world” 🖥️. Even then he noticed that software had become the main driving force of the economy and was displacing traditional professions. And this trend is only accelerating.
Computers, the internet and mobile applications have changed the usual order of things. Some people were left unemployed because of technology, and others created fortunes 💰. All of this is a common story in times of change. Peasants once left the fields, machines replaced factory workers, and now huge accounting departments are replaced by a single specialist using 1C and automation skills.
Technologies consistently increase labor productivity 📈. Machines and robots free people from routine, and “smart” software raises demand for skilled specialists who can operate this equipment and create new services. One professional with modern tools 🛠️ can replace a dozen employees from the previous generation — and earn many times more. The result: services become cheaper, businesses more profitable, and specialists more valuable.
Such technological booms happen regularly: recently it was cryptocurrency, and now it's artificial intelligence. And if you didn't buy Bitcoin at $1, you won't have to wait long for the next chance: a new wave has already begun 🚀!
2. 🧠 Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence is built ✅. In autumn 2022 OpenAI released the ChatGPT 3.5 product. And the world will never be the same again.
This AI easily passed the Turing test. It can play chess at a grandmaster level ♟️, passed exams at the most prestigious universities 🎓. And every six months its capabilities double. Which is exciting. Welcome to the future.
The biggest tech companies have joined the AI race 🏁. Demand for AI specialists is growing at a furious pace. Microsoft plans to spend $100 billion just on building datacenters for AI training. Other tech companies are not lagging behind. There is fierce competition among IT giants for everything related to AI: servers, datacenters, specialists, researchers.
This is interesting. Facebook started a real hunt for top AI engineers 🎯. In summer 2025 it hired several real superstars:
- Poached Zhuomin Pang from Apple for $250 million;
- Poached Aleksandra Van from Scale AI for $200 million;
- Poached Trapit Banzal from OpenAI for $100 million;
- Poached Net Fridman from GitHub for $100 million;
- Poached Deniel Gross from Safe Superintelligence for $50 million;
All these specialists were invited to Meta on record terms 🏅 — such contracts and bonuses were not even available to many corporate executives. Now the fight for AI talent is a real “arms race”, and Meta has decided to play big.
3. 🧐 How will this affect you?
The news is actually great 😎. First, it has already become clear how the AI business will develop. Apparently, AI companies will provide AI-as-a-service: that is, they will not try to push every competitor out of the market, but will simply become AI contractors 🤝.
Second, any revolution, including a technological one, is an opportunity to quickly advance your career. “Can’t beat it? Lead it!” So ignoring the AI revolution is unwise ❌, joining it is smart ✔️. Even better — be one of the first.
Human + AI will replace human without AI. Just as a person with a spear beat a person with a stick, and a person with a gun 🔫 beat a person with a spear, and so on. Artificial intelligence will greatly increase the productivity of people who know how to work with it. Such specialists will be needed everywhere 🌐.
And thirdly, in the next decade there will be a lot of products and internet services 🌱 that will make ordinary people's work better, faster and cheaper. This will move the global economy to a new level 🚩.
Undoubtedly, these companies will need top specialists capable of creating products with the help of AI that will provide services together with AI. You need to become such a person.
4. 🌑 “You were supposed to fight evil, not join it”
Will AI replace programmers? No. Rather the opposite 😈. Programmers with AI will replace all other professions. The last profession to disappear will be the programmer 😛.
