1. A bit about CodeGym

CodeGym — a legendary company. 😎 It appeared in autumn 2012 and quickly gained popularity. Learning at CodeGym had a warm, cozy vibe: adventures and conversations with characters from “Futurama”, a game-like learning format, and a very large community whose members actively helped each other.

The CodeGym project also stood out for its strong emphasis on practice. In 2015 the course included 1,200 practical tasks with auto-checking, requirements, and recommendations. Tasks could be solved either through WebIDE (a special widget on the site) or via a plugin for the professional IDE IntelliJ IDEA.

One of the proudest achievements was creating a highly efficient Help department. Each time a user asked a question about a task, the question automatically included: the task statement, the statuses of its requirements, and the user's code, which was displayed in a very convenient widget.

2. Expansion

In 2018 our CodeGym was translated into multiple languages and became available worldwide. Today the course is translated into 30 languages and has many students from the USA, Mexico, Germany, India, and China.

One school in the USA even hung a thank-you plaque for CodeGym outside near the school name.

Besides the plaque, we have a lot of other things to show.

For example, photos with thanks from schoolchildren in Croatia. Or awards from students at an American college, happy participants of a robotics competition in the USA, photos of students from McDonough School who, after completing CodeGym, took 1st place in C++ at the Lockheed Martin contest, photos of Indians who attended our offline programming lectures and later took the online course.

The photos show the scale, and it’s all very much real.

3. CodeGym University

In autumn 2021 the CodeGym team launched a new training format — CodeGym University. Our goal was to graduate not beginners but people as close as possible to Middle Developers. Such people can both cope with any job and find one.

The new training format was based on the following key points:

  • Training lasts 12 months.
  • The curriculum is aligned as closely as possible with job market vacancies.
  • Training in small groups with a mentor.
  • Ability to study fully online.
  • The learning pace is set by the mentor — there are schedules and deadlines.
  • Lots of practice and large projects.
  • A very large final project.
  • Training on all the nuances of job search and interviews.

The new approach to learning proved to be very effective. First, mentors set the learning pace, which helps most people avoid laziness or burnout. Each project has reasonable timelines and deadlines, and mentors are ready to adapt to students' needs.

Second, mentors are practitioners with extensive experience in development and teaching. They were given significant creative freedom. This had a strong positive effect on student motivation. If a mentor’s eyes light up, over time the students’ eyes start to light up too.

And third, a strong focus on practice. The complete Fullstack Software Engineer course contains up to 2,000 practical tasks that can be solved via WebIDE or the IntelliJ IDEA plugin. The course also includes 10 projects and one truly gigantic final project.

Perhaps that is why half of CodeGym University graduates get jobs immediately as mid-level developers. On the other hand, why not — some mentors even manage to teach their students Docker, cloud technologies, and even microservices. If cloning were legal, we would have cloned such mentors long ago 😅

4. The C++ Software Engineer course

If you are reading these lines, it means that in winter 2026 we launched our course on C++ 23!

Over the past few years the C++ language has been changing very actively, and we regularly received questions from students: are we planning to launch a course on modern C++, or even better — a full Fullstack C++ Developer program? After all, with knowledge of all the innovations, C++ developers can more easily find interesting and well-paid jobs.

Why not! C++ is rapidly gaining popularity — and that’s a great reason to add a new C++ course to CodeGym.

We carefully studied all the innovations in C++ and compiled the most up-to-date curriculum for C++ 23. The official new version of C++ will be released only at the end of 2026, so when you finish the course you will know all the newest features of C++ ✅

We named the course C++ Software Engineer. At the core of the program is an in-depth study of the C++ 23 syntax, modern OOP, collections, and approaches. Also working with files, serialization, streams, and asynchrony. Alright, I won’t spoil everything — you’ll see it all yourself 😎
