1. Introduction
You might be surprised by the name "CodeGym" when we're talking about C# and .NET. That's not a bug, it's a feature! On CodeGym there's a section for learning C# (and other languages), and the official plugin for JetBrains Rider makes solving tasks way more pleasant and convenient. With it, you can:
- Access the tasks available to you on CodeGym;
- Submit your solutions for review and instantly see the result;
- Run and debug your tasks locally on your computer;
- Automatically get hints, solution autocompletion, and a bunch of other stuff.
It's an awesome way to learn programming right in a professional tool.
2. Installing the Plugin
You can download the CodeGym plugin from the JetBrains marketplace, right inside your development environment.
Go to "Settings", Windows/Linux
File - Settings, MacOSRider - Preferences. If you don't see the settings section, open any project or create a new one.-
In the window that pops up, pick the Plugins section in the side menu and open the Marketplace tab. In the search bar, type codegym

- Select the plugin and hit the Install button.
- Restart Rider (Restart IDE) to start using the plugin.
- After restarting, open any project or create a new one.
-
You'll see a slightly changed interface and a Log in to account button on the top horizontal panel.
When you click it, a window will pop up for you to log in to your account, where you need to enter your secret key:

Now you'll see a window with two tabs. One is for the task description, the other is for entering your code.

Now just write your solution and hit the
Checkbutton. Just like on the website.
Syncing Tasks: Website ↔ Plugin
The list of tasks and their statuses updates automatically, every five minutes or after you submit any task for review (CodeGym server).
So if you solved a task on the website, it'll also show up as solved in the plugin. If you want to refresh the task statuses right now, just click your avatar (top right), and in the dropdown menu pick Sync tasks:
Beginner Mode in the Plugin
This is a simplified version for users who have little (or no) experience with Rider or other development environments. Some Rider features are hidden in this mode. To turn off this mode, click your avatar (top right), and in the dropdown menu pick Settings:
